It’s nearing midnight in The Hallowed Wide. 🌙
I feel like I can’t adequately express what it feels like to be here. This record holds so many of my secret wishes, lessons I’ve learned through my own heartache and darkest nights of the soul, my fiercest optimism for our human family, my most precious visions for the artistry of love.
“Split” (track #6) came to me suddenly while out on a walk in the summer of 2020. With gigs all wiped out by covid, I was fully immersed in the dreaming up of The Hallowed Wide.
I set out on a walk with an odd feeling in my heart, and felt the melodies and lyrics forming in my mind as I moved. By the time I got home, Split was a full-fledged entity.
I’m…SO proud of this song. I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written. And Jed hit the production out of the park. Way out.
If you’ve ever experienced an irreparable divide within yourself—the kind of wrenching revelation that jolts your entire worldview and identity into a new realm…this song is for you.
It’s a song for the betrayed, the grieving, the broken, the exhausted.
And.
It’s where the magic of The Hallowed Wide begins in earnest. 🔮✨🧚♀️
Everything up to this point has been preparation, discovery. This is the final surrender of everything we thought we knew. This is the point where we give ourselves to some other kind of mystery.
I cannot wait for you to experience this with me.
