Spring:
The May group lesson is always a lecture/group-participation class, during which we’ll hear from an expert in a related field (beat boxing, acting, rap, managing performance anxiety, career building and branding, etc.). The May group lesson usually takes place on a Tuesday in mid/late May at 5:30pm, directly before the Broadway Review. Exact date and time will be available well in advance. In the past, we’ve been thrilled to welcome Voice Male’s beat boxer John Luthy, PhD Performance Psychologist Dr. Jon Skidmore, prolific studio vocalist Joslyn Poole, and Hale Center Theater star Cecily Bills as our teachers!
Summer:
The August group lesson is a masterclass format. Students will perform for each other, and give feedback to each person who performs. Students participating in the Party Band Showcase will get an opportunity to rehearse with their background vocalists. Students not participating in the showcase will perform whatever material they are working on lately. The August group lesson usually takes place on the Thursday before the Party Band Showcase in mid/late August. Will begin no earlier than 5:00pm, will end no later than 8:30pm. Exact date and time will be available well in advance.
Fall:
The December group lesson is a private concert with a professional musician or band. The guest artist(s) will perform, talk about their path to success, and leave time for some Q&A. The December group lesson usually takes place on the on the last Monday before most schools release students for Winter Break, at 6:00pm, directly before the Holiday Concert and End-Of-Year Party. Exact date and time will be available well in advance. In the past, we’ve heard from local band Foreign Figures, singer-songwriter Jenessa Smith (a.k.a Goldmyth), composer and Warner Brothers producer Stuart Maxfield (The Fictionist), and The Voice’s Ryan Innes!
