If you’re new here, hello! It’s lovely to have you in my favorite little corner of the internet.

EM Songwriting Course is my original, self-developed method for teaching and understanding songwriting. This course is designed for creative individuals with analytical minds. We start with something abstract (art, creativity, composition), and break it down into a beautifully systematic, expansive, flexible process.

If you have songs in your soul, but need a methodical approach to get them onto paper and into soundwaves, this course is right for you. Absolutely no prior music training is required. The course is fully self-contained, and an excellent fit for precocious beginners, or experienced composers who are looking for new strategies. I’M READY TO BUY THE COURSE >>>

What to Expect…

Inside, you’ll find 9 modules organized by big-picture concepts and topics, with 59 total lessons breaking down everything from melody structure, to chord theory, to lyric development.

Each lesson is delivered in a carefully scripted video, ensuring the absolute most efficient and thorough delivery of information and concepts. I’ve edited out all “ums” and “uhs” to keep everything focused and streamlined.

Altogether, the course comes in at 12 total hours of concentrated video instruction. And of course, there are tons of original worksheets, graphic organizers, and other cool printables, too.

The process is fully self-guided—no one-to-one instruction, no “live” sessions, and no collected/graded assignments or assessments of any kind. But, enrollees will be invited to a private Facebook group in which to ask questions, share ideas, and receive support from fellow songwriters.

Once again, you do not need any prior music education to enter this course. The curriculum is designed to meet your needs, regardless of where you begin. That said, in order to build harmonies, you will need access to a piano, or a simple midi keyboard (I will teach you how to use them).

Or, if you are already an intermediate or advanced guitar player, you can substitute guitar for piano.

A Note For Music Educators…

If you are looking for pedagogical strategies for your own music students, please consider that everything in this course (the overall method, the videos, and all other course materials) is my original work.

I have invested hundreds of hours in the creation of these course materials, and over a decade developing the method in my private studio. Music is my livelihood, and this course allows me to bring my work to more students than I could ever reach in real time, or in real space.

I would love to suggest that you take the course yourself, and feel very free to apply some principles or small tips from this course to your own teaching…but please refrain from showing videos, sharing PDFs, or replicating my entire method in your private lessons, or group sessions.

Rather, if you’d like to employ my methods more broadly, I hope you’ll encourage your students to purchase this course themselves, and then report to you for one-on-one help and support as they proceed.

If any of your students purchases this course upon your recommendation, I will happily send you 10% of the purchase amount as a “thank you” for the referral. ❤  Alternately, I am happy to offer your student(s) a discount on the course, if you prefer that to a referral payment.

If you teach a songwriting course in an institutional context (a secondary school, college, university, or conservatory), and would like to use my course materials as an official “text” or curriculum for your class, please reach out to me about licensing per-semester for large groups. Note: I am open to licensing the entire course, a single module, or even just a few lessons, per your particular needs.
